Apple // iPhone 12 Pro 4K Aerial Film
San Francisco & Big Sur
Photography & Cinematography
Being an aerial photographer pretty much full-time and having early access to the iPhone 12 Pro, made this project a no-brainer. To an extent, I have overshot San Francisco in many ways, but I knew this would be a good chance to compare my new work to my previous work that was shot with various cameras and older iPhones.
Going back in 2016, my buddy Jaron Schneider and I created an iPhone-only aerial film, shooting multiple cities across the United State from a helicopter with the iPhone 6s when 4K was first introduced on iPhone. It was definitely fun to re-watch that and see how far the quality and additional cameras/lenses have made this new iPhone 12 Pro a continued improvement and tool.
I shot this film using the built-in HDR video mode with no 3rd party apps. Everything was shot in 4K 60fps or 4K 24fps. Edited in Adobe Premiere. Photos edited in Adobe Lightroom. Minimal adjustments.

Flying in Big Sur
I am always dreaming of flying over as much land or water as possible. I have flown in the Bay Area a couple of dozen times over the years, and have been flying over Los Angeles and San Diego as well. But finally getting to fly out of Santa Cruz down to Big Sur, was a special treat. Thanks to Specialized Helicopters for always keeping me safe up there and continuing to work with me on some extremely fun projects over the years.
