Aerial Photography Collections by Toby Harriman
Captured from the air above the Bay Area, this series by Toby Harriman showcases San Francisco International Airport (SFO) from a rare aerial perspective. Photographed via helicopter in coordination with Bay Area air traffic control, the collection reveals the geometry, movement, and design of one of the West Coast’s most iconic aviation gateways.
From the sweeping runways that extend over the bay to the intersecting taxiways and terminals, each image highlights the choreography of aircraft, ground crews, and infrastructure working in unison. The soft coastal light and frequent marine layer create a dynamic environment that changes by the minute, offering endless variation in texture and tone.
Part of Harriman’s ongoing exploration of major airports and their surrounding landscapes, the San Francisco International Airport series captures both the artistry and precision of modern aviation. It stands as a visual study of design, motion, and the systems that connect people and places across the globe.
