Miami International Airport

Aerial Photography Collections by Toby Harriman

As part of my Aerial Airports Photography Collection, this series showcases Miami International Airport (MIA), one of America’s busiest and most globally connected hubs. Captured from the air, these photographs reveal the airport’s vast layout, the rhythm of arriving and departing aircraft, and the dynamic interplay between infrastructure, light, and tropical atmosphere that defines Miami’s aviation landscape.

MIA serves as a major hub for American Airlines and a key gateway linking North America, Latin America, Europe, and the Caribbean. From above, the scale of operations and the geometry of its terminals illustrate the energy of a city built on international movement and cultural exchange.

This collection also documents ongoing modernization and expansion efforts by the Miami-Dade Aviation Department, including terminal upgrades, airfield improvements, and new sustainability initiatives. These aerial perspectives capture both the daily precision and long-term evolution of one of the world’s most vibrant aviation crossroads.
