Aerial Photography Collections by Toby Harriman
As part of my Aerial Airports Photography Collection, this series showcases Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi — a major Pacific gateway and one of the most unique airports in the world. Captured from the air, these photographs highlight the airport’s island setting, coastal runways, and the constant flow of interisland, domestic, and international traffic that defines its role as the heart of Hawaiian aviation.
HNL serves as a primary hub for Hawaiian Airlines and a critical stop for global carriers and cargo operators crossing the Pacific. From above, the airport reveals a striking contrast of tropical landscape, turquoise waters, and the structured geometry of terminals and taxiways.
This collection also documents ongoing modernization projects led by the Hawaii Department of Transportation, including terminal renovations, airfield upgrades, and expanded gates to support growing passenger and cargo demand. These aerial perspectives capture both the beauty and the complexity of a world-class airport that connects Hawaiʻi to the world.
