Aerial Photography Collections by Toby Harriman
As part of my Aerial Airports Photography Collection, this series showcases Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) — New England’s largest and busiest airport. Captured from the air, these photographs highlight Logan’s distinctive location along Boston Harbor and its intricate layout of runways, taxiways, and terminals framed by the city skyline. The series offers a detailed look at the airport’s ramp operations, architecture, and relationship to the surrounding urban and coastal landscape.
Logan serves as a major hub for Delta Air Lines and JetBlue Airways, connecting Boston to key destinations across North America and abroad. From above, the movement of aircraft across its runways and terminals reflects the city’s global reach, while the evolving infrastructure tells a story of growth and modernization.
This collection also documents Boston Logan’s extensive terminal expansion and redevelopment projects, including the new Terminal E international concourse, designed by luis vidal + architects and AECOM, and built by Suffolk Construction. The expansion adds new gates, larger aircraft capacity, and a bold architectural identity marked by its signature “Boston Red” roofline. These aerial perspectives capture both the airport’s day-to-day rhythm and its long-term transformation into a modern global gateway for New England.
